A98point4 is the ICD-10 classification for the ebola virus. The video and
the imagery used in it were inspired by news regarding the outbreak
in West Africa. The images are a series of digitally painted abstracts
and impressions which were created using a micrographic image
of the virus for reference. These images and partial images blend
slowly into one another as the video progresses. The quality of the
image decays as the ‘virus’ becomes more prominent. Where there
is movement, it is slow or oscillates so that it causes the viewer to
question whether the movement is imagined or not.
[*]nScape (08:54) is a low-polygonal reconstruction of emptiness
expressed in many Japanese ink paintings of landscape scenes.
While I was experimenting with still image renderings of such simple
scenes, a call for the first Drone Cinema Film Festival came to my
attention and it was clear that a still image could remain still while
droning.
