Walter Lapchynski CZLT makes doom more Cthulhu than SunnO))); Gérard Pape's not-guitars are haunting; Glenn Wayant's layers of detuning drones (synth included) unsettle; New Age Doom add free jazz drums to doom; Nico Guerrero's strings seem to become organs; Rhys Chatham is quiet, plays with space— use headphones.

Still, Kawabata (Acid Mothers) gives the standout: a shimmering yet weird psych drone. Khem One's a close second with guitar tones that pulsate with contrasting textures. Favorite track: The Dark Side of the Moon River.
